Mark Mehalko

Distinguished Service Award

The late Mark Mehalko is honored for successfully serving Colorado’s communities for more than 30 years in the field of transportation planning and engineering.
From CDOT projects to the governor’s blue ribbon panel to FASTER legislation and Denver Union Station, Mark’s many accomplishments during his long career had an impact for the better, and provided vision and funding for statewide transportation investment.
Mark’s strategic thinking and passion for improving the regional transportation network were instrumental in voter approval to reauthorize Douglas County’s sales and use tax designated for transportation, which is sustainable revenue for an additional twenty years.
Mark focused much time and energy implementing regional solutions by helping local, state and federal governments work more effectively and cooperatively.
